Our Story

Hawthornes began with a simple idea, create a place where people feel genuinely at home. Over the years, we’ve welcomed contractors, families, solo travellers and visitors from all over, and the goal has remained the same, offer comfort, peace and a friendly, familiar atmosphere.

Our Vision

Our vision is to keep Hawthornes a place where people feel relaxed, welcomed and genuinely looked after. We want every guest, whether staying for one night or several weeks, to enjoy a quiet space that feels comfortable, safe and easy.

As we grow, our focus stays the same, offer good rooms, honest hospitality and a stay that feels personal. A place you’re happy to return to whenever you’re in Pontefract.

First class guest house with really friendly hosts. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked and presented. Our hosts even gave us a lift to the race course which was the reason for our visit. Plenty of parking and lovely outdoor seating. Could not fault it at all. Well worth checking out, especially for Pontefract races.

Great friendly staff that went above and beyond to cater for my family for my nana wake. we appreciated it so much all the extra care and attention to detail
They even did me a gluten-free and dairy free platter an soup, and dessert selection. I was fully included

Amazing. Fab. Well decorated, a superb Home like experience.
I stayed in the double room with a big bath facility.
Mini fridge, hair dryer, iron, kettle and plenty of space for luggage and clothes.
They have even tea rooms and they are so cozy and nicely done.
Above All, do not worry about hassle if you forget anything either - as Miss Dee will take care of it even after. Thank you Miss Dee for the amazing hospitality and breakfast arrangement.
Oh then got ample of parking space too.

Absolutely beautiful place! The staff were welcoming and took time and effort to make a conversation. The food was amazing, I will definitely be visiting again. 😊 I can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay overnight but if they're anything like the tea rooms then they'll be amazing.
